Bellevue, Wash. – November 15, 2007 – Quadrant Homes was awarded the Environmental Excellence Award in continuous improvement in resource conservation from the Association of Washington Business (AWB). The AWB presented nine awards to companies that have demonstrated initiative, innovation and outstanding achievements in environmental compliance, protection and conservation. "We are honored to receive such a prestigious award from the Association of Washington Business that recognizes Quadrant's longstanding leadership in environmental stewardship," said Peter Orser, president of Quadrant Homes. "From how we manage a site, to the building materials we use and our efficient homebuilding process, we are committed to sustainable practices that help improve our region's quality of life." On site - Quadrant reengineered its design and construction process to reduce how much wood is used and the amount of waste generated. Quadrant's efficiencies use nearly 30% less framing material than traditionally-constructed homes. In the office - The company also significantly reduced paper waste by electronically transferring and approving construction and sales documents, including the adoption of DocuSign®, an electronic signature service. Quadrant's paperless transactions have saved over 2.5 million sheets of paper in the last two years alone. In the home - Quadrant Homes demonstrates environmental leadership in homebuilding as a founding member of the Built Green program, and nearly 4,760 Quadrant homes have been certified Built Green certified. In 2004, Quadrant became the first state production homebuilder to qualify for the ENERGY STAR Homes Northwest program. Additionally, Quadrant has lead the industry in using engineered wood products in its homes and also offers its customers the opportunity to choose environmentally-sensitive finishes and appliances. |
