Big Builder Magazine Honors Quadrant Homes' Industry Leadership with Prestigious Apex Award

Bellevue, Wash. - November 07, 2005 - Quadrant Homes, the state's largest homebuilder, today announced it earned first place honors in this year's APEX Award competition recognizing exemplary corporate practices in the homebuilding industry.

Sponsored by Hanley Wood and Big Builder magazine, the annual APEX Awards provide an opportunity to recognize companies for their noteworthy achievements and corporate practices in the homebuilding industry. A panel of industry experts selects the top builders in five separate categories.

"We're honored to be chosen by our peers for demonstrating solid management practices that are changing the way our industry addresses safety," said Peter M. Orser, president of Quadrant Homes. "The industry has never viewed safety as a top priority, yet this award signals a recognition that a comprehensive safety program is good for employees, customers and shareholders."

In designating Quadrant Homes as a first place winner under the "Leadership and Management Practices" category, APEX judges were particularly impressed by the company's significant commitment to fostering a safe and healthy work environment as part of its everyday business practices. Quadrant recently earned a Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star recognition by Washington State 's Department of Labor and Industries, becoming the only homebuilder among 1,451 VPP sites in the nation to receive such a distinction for its exemplary occupational safety and health standards.

APEX Award winners were recognized at a special ceremony held during this year's Big Builder Show in Las Vegas on November 4.
