Seattle, Wash. – May 05, 2005– King County Housing Authority (KCHA) today announced the appointment of Peter Orser, president of Bellevue-based homebuilder Quadrant Homes, as the new chair of its Board of Commissioners. In this role, Orser will manage the strategic direction of the board, whose members are selected by King County Executive Ron Sims and confirmed by the King County Council to serve five-year terms. “Peter's leadership in the homebuilding industry and long-standing commitment to affordable housing issues will be an invaluable asset as we continue our efforts to expand affordable housing resources and programs in the King County area,” said Stephen Norman, executive director of KCHA. “As a board member since 2001, he has already demonstrated his breadth of expertise and ability to help move the bar on critical issues impacting our constituents.” In addition to his five-year term as chair of KCHA's Board of Commissioners, Orser is also a board member of the Cascade Land Conservancy, former board member of Seattle Housing Resources Group and past president of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties. Under Orser's leadership, Quadrant Homes has grown to become Washington's largest single-family homebuilder, with six homes built every working day throughout the Puget Sound region. “Fostering an environment that supports and creates affordable housing opportunities that enhance the quality of life for local residents and help revitalize communities is more important now than ever before,” said Orser. Since its establishment in 1939, KCHA had administered a range of quality affordable rental and homeownership programs for residents of King County. The Authority serves more than 17,000 families, elderly and disabled households on a daily basis and currently has over 1,000 units of housing under development. |
